Is extraction painful?
The area is fully numbed before we begin. Afterwards, most people describe a dull ache for a day or two, managed with ordinary pain relief.
Do I have to replace an extracted tooth?
Not always, but back-tooth gaps let the neighbours drift and change your bite over time. We give you a straight answer for your specific case.
How long is the recovery?
Most people are back to normal within two to three days. The socket itself closes over in a couple of weeks, and we tell you exactly what to expect on each of them.
What can I eat afterwards?
Soft, cool food for the first day: pap, yoghurt, smooth soups, moi moi. Avoid hot drinks, straws and smoking for 24 hours, as all three disturb the clot that is healing the socket.
Can you remove wisdom teeth here?
Yes, straightforward wisdom teeth are removed in the clinic. If yours is deeply impacted and needs specialist surgical care, we will tell you plainly and refer you rather than attempt it.
What is dry socket, and should I worry?
It is when the healing clot is lost early, leaving the bone exposed and sore a few days later. It is uncommon, it is treatable in one short visit, and following the aftercare we give you makes it unlikely.
